Well, there's a difference between scripting and coming up with talking points.  Every show you listen to or watch that features a panel uses talking points.  They send each panelist a list with what they will be talking about on the show and they may send videos along with them, so that the panelist can review it beforehand.  This is especially true for shows that feature comedians as panelist because the odds of coming up with a joke off the cuff are not as likely as you'd think - especially when it comes to staying within FCC guidelines.

We didn't script stuff on the Drumcast, but we did have talking points and whoever issued the topic may have also included questions for each person on the show to ask himself in order to get them into the topic more.

Each listener will ask themselves, "based on what I've heard so far, is this worth my time?"

By getting right to some meaty information at the start, they will answer "Yes".
And keep listening AND come back next time.

Don't get me wrong, I loved the drumcastHug and looked forward to new episodes. I just felt the last few had drifted away from the orignal style that I had grown to expect from the drumcast. Still the best drum podcast that was out there but just not as good as it used to be. Again that's just my humble opinion, for what it's worth.

when we were doing it, nobody posted any fucking questions at all. We were encouraging it from day 1, but the response from the community in here was dismal. You can lead a horse to water, but you cant make them drink. SmileWink if you check, this thread was created 6 days after the release of the first podcast. Tongue

as for the talking over each other, there's too many people on at once. 5 people trying to have a roundtable discussion while not being in the same room and delays and such make it impossible to NOT talk over each other. 3 people MAXIMUM!
