Gotta vent. I was resuming the assembly on my big birch snare. I got the t-rods,and my buddy Jack finally got the screws for the lugs run thru a die cuz the threads on the ends of 7 of them were fucked up and wouldnt thread into the lugs (they were shortened by the lug supplier, who didnt check the threads on anything), and now that i got the screws good to go, the last lug i had to put on had fucked threads in it. I am boiling. If you pay top fucking dollar for something, you would expect a little more attention to detail in what you purchased. I just wanna get this birch built and playable, and yet again, another hold up regarding the lugs. I ordered the fucking things in september, and got them in february. I am not gonna blackball the company, but i need to vent and remember not to ever order from them again. Also, getting shells is proving to be a real bastard, so I am giving up on this shit. Nobody is interested in buying anything I have available anyhow. Building these snares is totally not worth the hassle. I am goign to enjoy the weird and diverse ones I have created, but i am thinking it is the end of the road for me and making new snares. THe copper one is now officially done with the black t-rods, and my big vent snare is done and playable (it is fucking LOUD!! Loudest one I got.), and the big birch is a great way to end the era of Star Lake Custom Drums, it was fun while it lasted.

I may even give up looking into building my own stave shells. I was thinking of getting the jointer, planer and lathe, under a small business grant, but, fuck it. I have a shitload of maple and birch trees on my property I could use for material wood, therefore being able to offer drums at a lower price (no cost for materials essentially), and it could be a good thing, but musicians are typically broke, so why bother?

/bitchfest.
Up yours, Goodman.

Getting shells is a royal cocksucker now. If i were to build again, i would need at least 8 months lead time to get shit rolling and done, and that is just unacceptable in my book. And I dont wanna be another "keller decorator". Kellers are nice shells, but...................they are so run of the mill. Stave kicks major ass, hands down, and makes keller look stupid. But staves are proving to be difficult to acquire. its sad.
Up yours, Goodman.

I will never use allstar again for their lugs. Their incompetence is the reason this drum is still not together.

The copper is officially done, I think it is sexy.

This snare is also complete, and FUCKING LOUD!!!!

Up yours, Goodman.

not tons of tone, tuning becomes more important, as you hear more from the heads. Sounds marching drum like, it is 9 inches deep afterall, lol. 9x14
Up yours, Goodman.
