Yeah, I used to hear his GnR licks and think they were good. I suck and play better than him. And no the RnR lifestyle is not a valid reason to throw your life away and say it was out of your control. In fact it's just the opposite, the drug induced coma is the goal. He achieved his goal.

his hi hat playing is so up and down, he speeds up to match the speed of the guitar and then drops down and comes back to fast then slows down way to much. its like watching a kid who just started playing they have the same wave pattern...
